Shortwave listening consists basically in listening to those radio stations transmitting in the high frequency band (between 3 and 30 MHz), also known as shortwave band. One can listen to long-distance transmissions, most realized from other countries. The long-distance transmission is a characteristic in that band. Several services are present on the shortwave band, as amateur radio, utility stations (mobile and aeronautic services), but shortwave broadcasting is the main application.
