There are several databases available in Internet with listings of frequencies
and radio transmissions, specially on shortwave.
Some of these databases are fairly complete, presenting lots of information
such as frequency, UTC time, transmission power, geographic localization of
the transmitter, among others.
This section lists the main databases, as well links for their web pages
with information related to the databases, including software for access them.
-
ILGRadio:
possibly the most complete database, it covers pratically all the shortwave
stations of the world, listed by frequency. Updated periodically.
This database is based in the ILGRadio Professional Version, used by several
organizations and stations for planning and coordination purposes.
Besides the database (available in several file formats), softwares for access
the database is also available.
-
HFCC:
database organized by the HFCC (High Frequency Co-ordination Conference),
a group that does an informal coordination of the frequencies used in
the shortwave transmissions.
Approximately 80% of the shortwave stations are covered
(about 60 organizations from more than 30 countries).
The activities of coordination, realized in two annual meetings, result in
operational schedules consisting in a database with all the emissions of
the organizations linked to HFCC. This database is available for free.
-
SWBC Schedules:
database consisting of schedules of English transmissions, exclusively,
not only on shortwave but also on medium wave and long wave.
Besides the regular database listed by frequency, there is a listing of
programs presented in these transmissions.
-
WHAMLOG e WHAMFM:
databases ellaborated by Werner Funkenhauser,
with compilations of stations transmitting in
medium wave (WHAMLOG) and frequency modulation (WHAMFM).
These databases don't have global coverage:
the WHAMLOG data covers only stations from North, Central and South America,
and the WHAMFM data is limited to stations from
U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, British Virgins Islands, British West Indies.
The databases are listed by frequency, but don't show the station name,
only their call letters.
-
Radio Listener's Database:
software that allows the access to the five databases previously presented
(ILGRadio, HFCC, SWBC, WHAMLOG, WHAMFM).
The databases can be shown in different forms:
full view, station view, frequency view (or call view for WHAMLOG and WHAMFM).
For ILGRadio and HFCC, a scalable map shows
the transmission localization and the
direction of azimuth.
It is possible also update the databases directly from the program.
Available for Windows 95/98/2K/Me/XP. Freeware.
-
BCL Schedules:
it isn't exactly a database, but a compilation of several transmission schedules
international shortwave broadcasters, updated regularly.
It is made by BCL-DX, from Sicila, Italy.
