About the Author

My name is Lenildo Carqueija Silva, I'm a Brazilian, and I live in the city of Niterói, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil. I am graduated in Telecommunication Engineering at UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense) located at Niterói, RJ. Recently, I concluded my doctorate in Electrical Engineering at UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro), located at Rio de Janeiro, RJ. If you wish to obtain more details, click here.

I am a shortwave listener since 1992. I already listened to several shortwave stations, having the confirmation of 44 stations, from 37 countries, with the so-called QSL cards. Visit the QSL Gallery to see scanned images from some of the QSL cards that I received (from a total of about 300 QSL's received, according statistics updated until 2002).

I am associated to DX Clube do Brasil (former DX Clube Paulista), an of the most active DX clubs in Brazil. It is important to a shortwave listener the association to a DX club, if he/she wishes to stay up-to-date with respect to this hobby, due mainly to the exchange of informations between the members of the DX club (loggings, received QSL's, tips and hints, etc). I also participe from some mailing lists on the Internet about shortwave, among these the mailing list "radioescutas" (note: messages of this mailing list are in Portuguese or Spanish only).

Besides shortwave listening, I'm also interested in philately. I have a big collection with more than 9,000 stamps from all over the world, but with emphasis in the collection of Brazilian stamps. My collection is of the type "classic" (or universal), not being limited to a specified theme.
